Sermon Title: Living in the Power of Christ’s Resurrection
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you.” (Romans 8:11)
Dearly Beloved,
Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
Christ has risen.
Have you?
We are truly alive only if the Spirit of Christ lives in us; for in the Power of the Holy Spirit, is found in us the Power of Christ’s Resurrection.
And such is the Power of God that actually makes us truly Christian - “that Christ may dwell in (our) hearts through faith” (Ephesians 3:17); and that in that same Power “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that (we) may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:18b-19)
True believers live solely and utterly in the Power of Christ’s Resurrection – these are their attributes:
1. You are utterly passionate about your relationship and work with Christ.
"I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of His Resurrection and participation in His Sufferings, becoming like Him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." (Philippians 3:10-11)
2. You have overcome the bondages of sin and the fear of death.
“The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6:10-11)
3. You are eagerly looking forward to Christ’s Return and His Eternal Kingdom
"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:14)
These three attributes are necessary requirements for the true Christian; of which disciples of Christ must daily and resolutely strive to attain.
In the reality of our Risen Saviour, “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1b-2)
Christ has risen; so must we.
May the Holy Spirit live in you; that you may live utterly in the Resurrection Power of Jesus Christ – to the glory of our Heavenly Father!
Shalom.
Let us pray.
Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed be Your Name.
Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done; on earth, as it is in heaven.
Holy Spirit, come live in me and give life to my mortal body – I surrender control of my life utterly to You.
Prepare me for my own bodily resurrection to dwell forever in Your Kingdom when I come face to face before my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
Grant that through the Spirit’s baptism upon my body each day, that I may live solely and utterly in the Power of Christ’s Resurrection!
Lord Jesus, I believe that You dwell in my heart; that I may “grasp how wide and long and high and deep” is Your Love and to know that Your love “surpasses knowledge—that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:18b-19)
Holy Spirit, help me to be utterly passionate about my relationship and work with Christ; help me overcome the bondages of sin and the fear of death; and grant me a heart that eagerly looks forward to Christ’s Return and His Eternal Kingdom.
I declare that in Christ’s Resurrection Power, I have the power to “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles” – that I may “run with perseverance the race marked out” for me, fixing my eyes always on “Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” (Hebrews 12:1b-2)
I thank You and pray all these in the Name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
